Myanmar possesses a rich and vibrant cultural tradition. Great natural beauty combines with magnificent temple architecture.Traditionally, Myanmar with its long history, culture and religion has many pagodas, temples and monuments all over the country. In addition, Myanmar is also blessed by nature with natural attractions. There are snow-capped mountains, deep forests, cool and scenic places, long rivers, beautiful lakes, and manu unspoiled beaches and archipelagoes. The different national races and their way of life, traditional arts and crafts offer exotic vistas of the nation while the warm hospitality of Myanmar people world-renowned.

Travel With Children
If you decided to travel with Children, only main destinations like Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay, Inle Lake and maybe Ngapali and Ngwe Saung Beaches are suitable for Children. All other destinations are very adventurous for families, as accommodation and transportation are not really suitable for very young Children. Please ask for further details to our office.

Shorts, short skirts or revealing clothing are not appropriate especially when visiting temples or any religious sites. Myanmar is a conservative Buddhist culture and improper dress can be offensive. Please dress with respect for the local culture.
Lightweight, easy to care clothes of cotton and cool fabrics are ideal all year round. A sweater or jacket may be needed in the cool season when visiting up country. Wear sensible walking shoes which can be easily removed when required.

For travelling in Myanmar you may need to be in good health condition. We suggest discussing your health condition with your physician if you are fit for travelling in underdeveloped tropical countries.
If you are on medication, better prepare the necessary amount of medicine for the whole trip as it may be difficult to arrange in Myanmar.
We suggest bringing your own medical kit, as you may get different items or drugs in Myanmar. Please prepare medicine against diarrhoea, as it is quite common to get diarrhoea during travelling in a tropical country. Different places, different climate and different food can cause diarrhoea.

Airport Tax
International departure: When leaving Myanmar, an airport tax of FEC/US$ 10. – passport. must be paid before check-in.
Domestic departure: no Airport Tax required ( subject to change without prior notice)

Visitors may bring in any amount of foreign currency but must be declared to the customs if it exceeds US$ 2000 or more. Export of antiques and archaeologically valuable items are prohibited.

Duty Free Allowance
Duty free allowance of Myanmar is two bottles of liquor, two cartons of cigarettes: 100 cigars, one pint bottle of perfume or eau de cologne. Death penalty for carriage of any illegal drugs.

Local Time
GMT +6.5 hours. 1.5 hours difference with Singapore and 1/2 hour with Thailand.

We recommend all clients to obtain the necessary personal baggage, medical and accident insurance before arrival.
What to Bring
Sun hat, Sun glasses, Sun protection for your Face and Body, Prescription medicines, Insect repellent and an umbrella (rain or shine), a small flash light and extra passport photos.

Money / Currency
The currency in Myanmar is the Kyat (pronounced chat). Present denominations are in notes:

Kyats.: 10000,5000,1000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5,1

It is advisable to bring for personal expenses like meals, drinks, buying souvenirs etc. enough US$ in cash to Myanmar. You can use old and new US$ notes here in Myanmar. In case of using 100 US$ notes > ONLY new notes after 1996 will be accepted.
For banking reasons, we are unable to accept the following USD currency notes:
(1) CB serial numbers for USD 100 notes
(2) AB serial numbers for USD 50 notes
(3) Notes with “small head”,
(4) very dirty and damaged notes
Very sorry for inconvenience, but this restrictions are done by the Myanmar banks, money changers and most Hotels here in Myanmar.

Credit cards and Traveler’s checks
Myanmar is a cash country, since credit cards, traveler’s checks and foreign currencies are not widely accepted. We would therefore like to advise all our guests to bring enough cash in US Dollars for trip to Myanmar. All other currencies are not widely accepted. We suggest to bring US$ and/or EURO only as it may be difficult to change other currencies!!!

FEC (Foreign Exchange Certificate)
For the convenience of the travelers, Foreign Exchange Certificates ( FECs) are issued by the Central Bank of Myanmar to use during their stay in Myanmar. Foreign Exchange Certificate (FEC) is equivalent to US$. Their denominations are issued in $20, $10, $5 and $1.
